I’m 17 years old, I’ve been exercising for about 4 weeks now, I run/walk for 30 minutes & do work out DVDs for an hour 5 days a week. I started out eating 1200 calories a day which i later found out was not a very good idea, lol, once I figured out what I should be having it was about 1700 a day. I can tell I’ve lost weight but I hate weighing myself because it always makes me a little bit mad because it’s not as much as I expected lol. but I’m going to an event in about 3 weeks and I would like to know what a good estimate for how much i can lose in 3 weeks is? Doing what I’m doing. Should I cut some more calories? Or work out more? Or am I doing good? lol thanks for the help!

Tempting situations and special occasions
It is important to recognise that holidays, festivals, eating out, etc, may interfere with your everyday food choices and eating schedule. Also, do you find that watching food programmes on TV makes you hungry? How about smells from the kitchen from someone cooking who is not aware that you are trying to lose weight? Do you get pressure from family or friends to eat or drink more?
You will be tempted by different situations to abandon your planned food intake. Can you identify any tempting situations? Can you avoid them? If not, how do you cope with them?
Top tip – go and clean your teeth when you are tempted to eat between meals.

I agree with many in here. Just eat fruits, veggies, grains and nuts and exercise a lot. Start jogging in the morning if your neighborhood is safe.

PostHeaderIcon Is it possible to lose more weight in a week just only burning 3,500 calories?

I know thats a pound. But can you lose more weight than just a pound? Like lets say you burn 3,500 calories each week, for a month and you lose only 4 pounds. Can you lose more than just 4 pounds? Or would the rest be water weight?

Could you lose weight and the scales wouldnt change?

It isnt safe to lose more then 2 pounds a week.
The scale would lie unless it is broke. Muscle weighs more then fat. The scale might say that you weigh the same, but in fact you might have gained muscle and lost fat. If it says you weigh more it could be just because of that and also do to water. The ebst time to weigh yourself is the exact time every day. maybe when you first wake up after you pee. And also weigh yourself wearing just your under clothes. That weigh you know that the weight on the scale isnt just water, and isnt clothing weight, nor food and water weight.

The weight you lose will depend on how many calories you eat also. Not just in average in a week. If you are eating less then the required amount for your body (which is a norm of 2,000 a day) then its possible to lose more weight in a week. BUT just "buring" 3,500 a week wont do very much to you if you are eating a normal caloric intake.

ok so my formal/ prom is on the 28th so i have 3 weeks to lose some weight and tone up.
but theres a problem, i don’t get home from school until about 4.30 or 5 every day, and i have resits for my exams coming up too!

I want to get in shape, and I was thinking about starting a gym routine going Mon, Wed, Fri… Would this be good enough to lose weight,

And how many calories do you need to burn a week to start losing weight?

Day 1:

Eat the soup accompanied with watermelon and melon for your main food all day long. Consume a glass of unsweetened cranberry juice before you go to bed.

Day 2:

Stop eating fruit at all! Consume your soup and you are allowed to eat green salad. Make sure the salad contain no dressings, peas and corns.

For dinner you can consume roasted potato or baked potato with butter (don’t ever think to fry it)

Day 3:

Consume the soup, salad and fruit but no potato today.

Day 4:
